New York Racing Association Studies Video Slots Bid for Aqueduct Racing Track
On April 29th, 2008, the bidders who have constructed the Hard Rock Cafes and others who were responsible for constructing well-known casino facilities on Connecticut like the Mohegan Sun are competing to develop the Aqueduct race track into a well-known tourist destination in Queens.
Some of the racing operators that are interested on managing the slot machines at the state racing track are Capital Play Incorporated and the Mohegan Sun casino; the Aqueduct Gaming, which is composed of Delaware North Companies Gaming and Entertainment and Saratoga Harness Racing; and SL Green Realty Corporation; which is a developer based in New York City with plans to contract a Hard Rock Entertainment establishment.
The franchise for the video slot machines will be given to the prospective operators after Governor David Paterson and the legislative officials study the proposals over the next two weeks. The Governor and the state officials will need to determine the merits of each proposal. The New York Racing Association possess the state's franchise to offer thoroughbred horse racing at the Aqueduct, Belmont and Saratoga horse racing tracks.
